Word process a one page paper on your reflections from the readings. Turn in a hard copy at the beginning of Class 2. Be prepared to discus your reflections in class.

Create a rubric for a project you are doing with your students, for a project in another Ed. class, or for use with a future class.

Use any curricular theme or the topic you chose for your search engine assignment. 

Turn in hard copy of rubric at the end of class.

Readings for 3rd class:  Assessment - Search Engines

How Search Engines Work  and The Major Search Engines and Directories 

  • Select a single topic or theme for a curriculum project. 

  • Choose three search engines that you don't regularly use. 

  • Do a search, using the same question or query for each engine, i.e. Native Americans or the Navajo.  

  • Create a table that shows the results for each engine. 

  • Have one of the table’s columns explain which engine or engines you would recommend your students use and why.

  • Take notes from the readings on Internet Safety. 

  • Bring your notes to class. 

  • Notes will be used to create, in class, a PowerPoint presentation. 

  • Remember to keep a record of your sources as you must cite your sources in your PowerPoint presentation.  

Educational Websites

Find five (5) educational Websites in a content area or your subject area.
Create a word document that includes:

  • the website name,

  • the URL, and a

  • Fifty (50) word description of each site.
